Canadian Safe Boating Council

2014 Rental Boat Safety Checklist Pilot Project

Thank you for taking the time to check out the 2014 Rental Boat Safety Checklist Pilot Project.

Canadian law requires anyone operating a power-driven boat to carry proof of competency onboard. Enforcement agents accept a completed Rental Boat Safety Checklist as proof of competency in a boat rental situation.

The CSBC have included the 2014 Rental Boat Safety Checklist Pilot Project as part of our web site for both Rental Agencies and even the general public. If you are a Rental Agency we encourage you to use this program over the summer, and if you are a renter, we are certain that you will find the materials informative before you head out onto the water in your rented vessel.

Rental Boat Safety Checklists

The new checklists feature visual icons and plainly written statements in a ready-to-use format, designed to help rental agencies staff easily review important safety information like boat operation, boating safety rules and local hazards with their clients.

Please download and use these free checklists.  There is one for each of five types of motorized boat:
